"All creatures on earth deserves a life free from fear and pain".
Animal and birds should not require permission from human beings to live on earth, since they were given the right to be here long before we arrived.
Respecting the fact that birds are also a part of our society and has equal right to live in the same environment, Saving Dreamz Foundation in association with Growill Foundation organised an event 'One Mic Stand' along with several eminent personalities from other NGOs.
Despite of nationwide ban on glass-coated Nylon Manja, people still keep buying and using it without thinking about the fatal harm it does to the birds.
'One Mic Stand' was conducted as a collaborative effort of various foundations to create awareness of the life threatening hazard of Nylon Manja, especially during the famous kite flying festival of Makar Sankranti.
During the event, Mr. Rajesh Sabnis urban rescue specialist and fire fighter conducted bird rescue training. He demonstrated how to save a bird if it get stuck in nylon manja on tree and also demonstrated the technique on how to climb up the tree with the help of rope and how to tie the knot using the rope in various ways. He informed all the audience once should not climb the tree without any purpose and always climb under supervision of experts.
Further Dr. Bahar Baviskar, a veterinarian and founder of Wild CER conducted a talk show. He has a vast experience of more than 15 years to safeguard the life of bird and rescued many other species including birds and animals and shared his experience of bird escaping and handling mass casualties. He also encouraged everyone to collect nylon manja which stuck on roof top and in urban jungles of Nagpur.
The event was given a unique refreshing and entertaining touch by mimicry artist Mr. Bhuwan Meshram from Nagpur. He conveyed the message of saving birds and supporting ban on Nylon Manja by humorous mimicry of various Bollywood personalities and cartoon characters and engaged the audience through his mind blowing skills.
Dignitaries Mr. Pankaj Asare, Mr. Sunil Yelne and Nishad Dakhle also shared their experiences of last two years working with Growill Foundation on saving quite a few birds in their initiatives. They so informed the attendees about their initiative 'Manja jamao, kuch naya banao' to create awareness amongst the public by this NGOs collaborative.
We understand this earth was made for all beings and we should not threaten the lives of other beings.
The festival of Sankranti must be celebrated, but not at the cost of lives on innocent birds.
